nineteen

I guess it's about time I shared something with the flock. I thought about keeping it private at first, but honesty is a virtue.

I remembered my name. I'll still go by Chapel--I've gotten kinda fond of it--but if you want to, you can call me Nicholas. Nicholas D. Wolfwood.

Nicholas D. Wolfwood- that's a mouthful. Congratulations on getting your real name, though. It's quite a noble-sounding one.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Noble? Ha! I don't aspire so highly, friend. But I'll take your congratulations all the same.

[identity profile] bloody-pens.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, let's just call it a good, strong name, then, friend. And hey, you and your buddy Grift are gonna be my new neighbors in section 4, right? I'll pitch in with the celebratory booze.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
That's right, we're moving up in the world. A housewarming party, huh? I'll mark you down as the good neighbor.

Hiya Nicholas!

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Hey there, kiddo. You doing all right?

[identity profile] grinninggrifter.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Nicholas, hm? Good religious name, that, although I'm not so sure about Wolfwood. Congratulations, my friend. Lucky you managed to hear two names and one initial.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'd never compare myself to a saint, but it seems to fit anyway. Who knows? Maybe next time I'll hear what the D stands for.
live_ringer: (Makes me grin.)

[personal profile] live_ringer 2010-04-26 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Wolfwood, hm? Has a nice ring to it.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
You're thinking of Bell.
live_ringer: ([uniform] Back in session?)

[personal profile] live_ringer 2010-04-27 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Cute. Though I think I already went over that schpeil with him once before.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah? He must have a good sense of humor.
live_ringer: (Enlightening.)

[personal profile] live_ringer 2010-04-29 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
It's certainly colourful. Or off-colourful, more often than not.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2010-04-30 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Now there's my kind of guy.

[identity profile] cathar-jedi.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"Flock"?

It is good that you can recall your true name.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
The congregation, the community I serve—a priest without a flock's like a sandworm without the earth.

Good for who? Well, I guess it'll let me order those monogrammed towels.

[identity profile] cathar-jedi.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
So you are a man of faith, then?

You jest. For many, the recovery of true names is a matter of great personal importance. For myself - the name I have chosen suits, although I fear that I cannot live up to the, the inherent expectations. But I do find myself wondering who and what I used to be, and might be again.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Something like that. Once upon a time, I was a priest.

A name is just a label. Maybe it tells you what people call you, but it doesn't say what you used to be. Or who you are.

[identity profile] esoteric_rose.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations.

Why do you call us the flock, Mr. Nicholas?

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
What else should I call my congregation? Hmm—maybe I should start taking more confessions.

[identity profile] esoteric_rose.livejournal.com 2010-04-26 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[pentaps]

Confessions? I'm afraid I'm ill-versed in what that is.

The words from man to God, with a humble priest serving as the go-between. It's a way of getting forgiveness, or at least getting the message to the big guy.

[identity profile] seeya-next-life.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
I hope my name turns out to the that awesome when I find out what it is. Seriously, that's an awesome name, it just kinda rolls right off the tongue.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! You flatter me. Any credit should go to the Lord who inspired my...well, whoever named me.
