So what's a good way for a man to figure out how to make a living in this interesting sphere we call home? For now, all I know of my past is that I was either pretty good with a gun or some kind of fruit salesman.

[identity profile] kleptomonkey.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Well if you sold fruit, there's a Marketplace!

Or, y'know, the job postings!

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I was a very good salesman. At least not of fruit.

...listings?

[identity profile] kleptomonkey.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Of something else maybe? Like...houses?

Yeah, right outside the Temp houses!

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, those. I figured they were just rules, so I ignored them.

[identity profile] kleptomonkey.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Hehe, nope!

You can always work in Maintenance with me, or there's cleaning, medical, and apparently journal making now too! Plus some other stuff!

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
And what do you maintain, missy?

[identity profile] kleptomonkey.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Houses, mostly, and all the stuff like lights and ovens and all that. But we need plumbers, and carpenters, too!

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm...I'll think about it. Looks like there's a lot more available than I expected.

[identity profile] nixe-eva.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
So start threatening people with guns to buy your fruit.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
That'd be unfair! And I don't have a gun right now.

[identity profile] nixe-eva.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Who says you've got to be fair? And it's easy to get a gun anyway. Just go find one in the Scrapyard or get one from the Weapon's Stall.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe I will at that.

[identity profile] fail-pilot.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Guns? Cool! Fruit? Not so much.

I signed up with the Maintenance crew! Seems like that job will suit me for a while (I feel like I'm good with my hands and fixing things, after all I was some groups 'Ace' something!).

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Fruits are very cool if you're lost in the desert! But since that's not our situation, I think I might try something different.

Ping!

[identity profile] fail-pilot.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I guess fruits would be pretty essential in the desert huh... Gee that was weird.

Ah well. You should try to sell something neat, like clothes or guns or something like that!

I love accidentally pinging people

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty rare, too. Hard to grow crops without water.

...I don't know about that. Guns might be essential in certain situations...but some people are better off not needing them.

[identity profile] fail-pilot.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I guess it'd make sense to sell them in the desert then. You could probably jack those prices way up and make some good money!

And why not? I walked around the Marketplace and I think I saw a couple weapons stalls... Definately saw one person carrying an armful of swords.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
That's pretty devious. I like you, mister.

Guns aren't swords, though. And some people deserve clean hands.

[identity profile] fail-pilot.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hey thanks a lot! I try my best, you know~

I guess you're right. It really doesn't make a difference to me though! Still, sell something cooler than fruit.

Like meat. Meat is pretty manly!

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
What makes meat manly? I'm sure plenty of ladies enjoy a good steak.

ohhhhh fail lol

[identity profile] fail-pilot.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
You BET they enjoy a good steak.

I don't know... it just seems tough. Like a guy. ...Then again...

Alright so meat isn't exactly manly. But it sure is tastey!

peeeerv

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Now that I definitely agree with.

[identity profile] prez-leg-cramp.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
You can try being an adventurer. Guns come in handy in the Wilderness too.

what kind do you have?

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
Too bad I don't have any right now. Looks like I'll need a job if I want to get any.

[identity profile] prez-leg-cramp.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Well, as I said, there is being an Adventurer. You don't need to actually shoot anything to make money, it's more like exploring than anything else. You get money either way and then you can go to the Weapon's shot and by your gun. :)

Or if you want to be a fruit salesman you can open up a stall and sell some? You'd probably have to talk to the Farmers about that though.

Ignore his cryptic nonsense talk

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
There's a thought. I don't think of myself as that adventurous, but who am I to say when I don't remember?

Nah. I never got hold of the apple. So I don't think I was a good salesman.

XD k

[identity profile] prez-leg-cramp.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you can try it out. If you don't like it, try something else. Only way to know is to try.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. You're quite the optimist. Reminds me of...I don't know, actually.

[identity profile] prez-leg-cramp.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I like being optimistic. Makes life easier, really.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not so sure about that, but I'll take your word for it.

[identity profile] prez-leg-cramp.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
I just... don't like looking at all the bad, I suppose.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Then good luck and god bless.

[identity profile] prez-leg-cramp.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks.

[identity profile] artistic-spaz.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
I second the Adventurer idea. I am one and it's a lot more fun than sitting around some stall all day--if you're like me and don't like sitting still for long periods. Being a Scavenger is okay, too. It's more exploring, only for whatever specific stuff people want from the Yard.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'll keep the endorsement in mind. Maybe I'll even give both a try.

[identity profile] artistic-spaz.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
It's a good way to pass the time! Well, from my horribly biased point of view.

[identity profile] sixthsinner.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
At least you can be honest about it!

[identity profile] wartimenovelty.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
It's been suggested already, but there's being an Adventurer or a Scavenger, if you're the curious type. There's also setting up shop or working in one that's already open. If you think you're good with guns, you could think about repairing the ones people bring in.

[identity profile] redhead-rabbit.livejournal.com 2009-06-04 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
That's really on the opposite ends of the spectrum, yanno.
